The Ward Acres Master Plan identified the barn site as an important area for future revitalization. Over time, the condition of the structure deteriorated and it was ultimately removed due to safety concerns, while preserving key stone and foundation elements of the site.

A series of Ward Acres Capital Improvements are in the process of being implemented by the City of New Rochelle which includes beginning a planning process to explore future possibilities for the barn site. This effort will focus on developing a vision that is consistent with the character of the park and informed by community input. Additional opportunities for public engagement will be shared as this process moves forward.​​
